Comes with our 100% Lifetime Guarantee The cheap pedals that came with my bike broke, so I started to do some research and decided I would go with metal pedals. These are constructed of aluminum and are anodized, making the outer surface harder and more robust than bare aluminum. They are not as light as pedals i've seen in pro shops, but they also don't cost nearly as much either. I am a big fan of the broad size of the pedals compared to the pedals that originally came with my bike. Another feature that I did not realize I would love is the small spikes present on the surface of the pedals. I do a lot of offroad biking and sometimes end up riding through areas with mud or small puddles, making my shoes slippery. In the past, there have been multiple occasions where my shoe slipped off the pedal which could potentially be a dangerous situation. I've already taken these for a test run and found the small spikes and the broad surface improve traction to a significant degree over the old pedals.Improvements for... Personally I just ride the trails and roads for pleasure and to give my dog some exercise, I am not what you could consider a “hard core” mountain biker. With that being said these are a vast upgrade to any generic pedal you would receive on a bike. The pedal is cast aluminum [one seamless piece]. The raised nubs are smooth, they do offer extra traction but if you have a hard time keeping your feet on the pedals I’d recommend something with more grip. The pedal platform is an all aluminum platform with a thick coating of paint. The gripping nubs are part of the pedal mold. If or when they wear out they are not replaceable. They provide a good amount of grip. The bearings in the set I received are not very smooth. They do not spin very well. This is not a performance set of pedals, but like I said they will do a better job than standard plastic pedals used in department store bikes of today.I had hoped these would be a decent replacement for one of my mountain bikes, but I will run them on one of the beach cruisers instead. The grip and size of the platforms are nice but I want my pedals to spin like the wheels. Less drag is equal to less work.
